    Ramona,

For the past few weeks while browsing the net, Netscape has been closing on it's own for some reason. One second i'm choosing a site to visit, the next second the Netscape error agent is open asking me if I want to send Netscape a report of this error, then it closes the entire program.

Any ideas? Could I actually be moving around on the net too fast and Netscape just cannot keep up?? :)

    Hi Kenny,

The next time you get the error, would you make a note of what it says, and post it here. Kind of hard to troubleshoot without knowing exactly what 's happening.

What's open at the time of the shutdown; Mail, other apps., etc.? Do you get a hang, or does the error completely knock you out of Netscape and to the Desktop?

    Let us know,

    Ramona :D

    Hi Ramona,

Nope, no error message is reported, Netscape just shuts down. I do use ZoneAlarm Pro and my Norton AV program run in the backround.

It's really unpredictable. Since I reformatted my computer, it doesn't seem to be as smooth as it was coming from the factory.

    Hi Kenny,

Your problem kept nagging at me, because I knew that I had seen it before. Did a search, and found that broni had this exact issue.

He found that the Java plugin was corrupt, and reinstalled his Java. That seemed to fix his problem. Are you using the Java that was installed with Netscape, or have you installed the Sun Java Plugin from their site?

I would uninstall and reinstall the Plugin from Sun Java. I hesitate to recommend a Version, as Eck/Dennis just reported that he was unable to use 1.4.2, and had to downgrade to 1.4.1_03. (Can't get Java to work). Whereas, I upgraded from 1.4.1_02 to 1.4.2 with no problems? You'll just have to experiment to see what works for you.

    HTH,

    Ramona :D

    Ramona,

You know, I think that may be the problem!! It has shut down three times on me the past few minutes, all three times while on Java sites! This was a problem with past versions of Netscape as well!

So I should uninstall the Java from Add/Remove and reinstall it from the Sun site, correct??

Thanks Ramona, you're the best! :)

    Hi Ramona...

Well, I reinstalled the Sun Java again. I've had one shutdown since but think that was due to my quick fingers and not letting pages fully load before moving on to another. What it seems is happening is i'm overloading the browser with requests and it cannot handle them. Kind of like back in the 56k modem days where one would actually be knocked offline for moving about so fast. I just love this broadband connection! :)

I think I can live with this as is! Thanks for the help, Ramona!
