    HI:

I have some NETSCAPE 7.1 MAIL problems.

    Maybe you can help me.

    Information:

    Running Windows 98, Netscape 7.0
    browser.

I use Netscape as my Mail.

I had been running Netscape 7.0 for some
    time and
then downloaded Netscape 7.1 last week to
    get the
    Spam Block.

    Process:
I downloaded 7.1 from Netscape site.
I did not close 7.0 as I wanted to save it.

When I installed 7.1, my Mail worked fine.
All of my mail boxes, In Box, files and
    folders
    loaded into the new 7.1.

I operated from this for two days.

Then I had a trip, so I shut down.

Upon returning, when I restarted the
    computer,
Netscape asked me for a profile.
    It thought this unusual.

Then when I loaded Netscape 7.1, the Mail
    Box was
    empty.

I shut down and re-loaded a number of
    times, with the same results.

When I tried to open my old 7.0, it opened
    as 7.1.

    C DRIVE:

I have looked in the C drive and believe that
    I
can see my old mail boxes, files, etc.

They appear to be in the general area of
    C:\WINDOWS\application
    data\mozilla\profiles\jhscott

    AND....

    C:\WINDOWS\application
    data\mozilla\profiles\jhscott\agwzckn.slt

    and following...

So I wonder how to get the old mail box to
transfer to 7.1 from the C Drive ?

    Thanks.

    Welcome to the Forum, jscott!

    Hi jscott,

If I'm understanding correctly, you shared the same Profile with Netscape 7.0 and 7.1? If so, this is the root of your problem, as you must have a separate Profile for each Netscape application, or chaos erupts! This from the Netscape 7 Release Notes:

    Preferences
Do not share a profile between Netscape and Mozilla browsers. Doing this can lead to unpredictable results, which may include loss of Search settings and preferences and unchecked growth of the Bookmarks file (large enough to freeze your system). It is best to create a new profile for each or manually copy (and change the name) of an existing profile.

What you need to do is create a new Profile for Netscape 7.1. Check out Creating a New Profile which will guide you through the process of copying all data to the new Profile.

Let us know if you have questions.

    Ramona :D
