Had problem where Netscape 7.1/WinXPPro/Pent4 would not open. Reinstalled Netscape 7.1 but saved the .slt file before reinstall. Thought I could just copy the old slt into Netscapw and be back where I started. not so. Got bookmarks and looks like I lost passwoed/auto logins, old email and inbos folders. This stuff is in the old slt I saved.
Thanks in advance. I had a similar problem when I upgraded from 6.0 to 7.0, but don't remember what the tech had me do for my $40 bucks.

    Welcome to the Forum, agf3rd!

    Hi agf3rd,

    Close Netscape and Quick Launch

Remove the current *.slt (salted) folder to a temporary location, or delete it.
Copy the backup *.slt folder, and paste it into the
    C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename folder.

    Next:
Open the Mozilla folder and delete: registry.dat
    C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla

    Open Netscape:
The Profile Manager will prompt for a new Profile
Use the same name as the Profile you just created
If the new Profile you created is "Joe" then use "Joe" again. Netscape will then find your Profile.

    With Netscape open:
Check your Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings | Server Settings
Ensure that the "Local directory" path points to the correct location. Do this for all Mail Accounts, the Local Folders, and Newsgroups.
(Edit | Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings | Server Settings)

    Close Netscape - Restart Netscape
All your Mail and Preferences should be intact.
