    Hi everyone,

    I am running Windows 98SE.

I have switched to Thunderbird for my e-amil, and am wanting to us Mozilla for my browser now.

I have a lot of passwords savedd in Netscape 7.02, where can I find them, and is it possible to transfer them to Mozilla? And how can this be done?

Before loading Mozilla, I need to remove Netscape, correct?

Lastly, how do I make Mozilla use Thunderbird as the default e-mail program after installation?

    Thanks, mark

    Hi Mark,

Definitely uninstall Netscape 7.02 first, then reboot your PC. Mozilla will automatically pick up your Profile, and it won't be necessary to move any files. Uninstalling Netscape won't touch your Profiles folder.

Your Password file is made up of 8 random numbers, e.g., 3892174.s

If you are going to use Thunderbird as your default Mail program, then do a "Custom" install of Mozilla, and deselect Mail & Newsgroups and Spell Checker.

    Ramona :)

    thank YOU Ramona!

Ok, do I need to find the password folder, or wil that be taken care of when Mozilla imports profile?

If I need to find the password folder, where is it? LOL, been looking, but cannot find.

E-mail? Would the e-mail with Mozilla 1.7 be as good or better than Thunderbird?

    Thanks AGAIN! Mark

    Hi Mark,

There will be no conversion/migration of the Profile, Mozilla will simply "see" the Profile in the default location.

Your password file is located in the salted *.slt folder:
    C:/WINDOWS/Application Data/Mozilla/Profiles/profilename/*.slt

Mozilla mail is very stable, and with the same features as Thunderbird. The choice is whether you prefer a suite, with all components included like Mozilla, or a separate Program for Mail.

Let us know if you have further questions.

    Ramona :)
