I cannot get my office URL to open in Netscape 7.0. After the browser says "document done ", the page is blank. After clicking on the page source, the page information is there, but there is no image. The URL opens in other browsers like, AOL and IE, but not in Netscape 4.7 or Netscape 7.0. Also, all other URL's open just fine in both Netscape 4.7 and 7.0. I am currently running Windows XP Home Edition version 5.1 Also the URL address has dashes in it. Is there something I am missing?

I will pick this up, if I can't post, but I never succeeded posting from AOL. Have you?
I have seen something like, and I never got a reply from any site.In my opinion, this could be another case of incompatibility between part or all of the site and NS7.x. I don't know about NS4.x. AOL and IE have the same engine, and the fact that it is part of Windows does not surprise me.

    Deb,

What URL are you trying to access? I have both Netscape 4.78 and 7. I can give them a try and see if I can access them. That way we can eliminate the possibility of a Netscape problem as a whole.

Thanks for replying. The URL address is www.surette-realestate.com. Also, perhaps you should know that I maintain this website. I am starting to think that maybe I have a missing component in Netscape 7.02.:p

The site works in Netscape 4.79 and IE 5.5sp2 but it loads a blank page with a yellow background in Mozilla 1.0.1 (similar to Netscape 7.0).

    You're using a FrontPage javascript? ( I checked the page source and saw: script language= "JavaScript1.2" fptype= "dynamicanimation" src= "animate.js ")

It's most likely the javascript.... certain ones work in Netsape6-7/Mozilla and other's don't.

I don't have the background to go into detail....maybe one of the other regulars can help. You can look here, to start:
    http://www.mozilla.org/docs/web-developer/index.html
    http://devedge.netscape.com/viewsource/2002/gecko-compatibility/

PS I tried http://www.surette-realestate.com/default.shtml and that page does load in Mozilla 1.0.1.

    Hi Debbie,

    Glad I could help out.

Just goes to show you, sometimes 'simple' is better!

I never did understand why people would load up their "business" sites with stuff like flash, java or javascript, especially for crucial items like links. At the very least you should have alternate links that do not involve javascript.

Thanks to Alice, my Netscape 7.02 Browser Trouble has been solved. It does appear that my index page was written using FrontPage javascript. Netscape 7.0 doesn't like this language :( My system administrator is correcting the problem. Thanks sooo much. Hopefully, I may be able to return the favor.:D
