    Netscape 7.01 crash

work computer: 233 Mhz INTEL chip
    memory: 265 meg
    hard drive: 4.2 gig

home computer: 1.8 gig Athalon chip
    memory 128 meg
    hard drive: 30 gig

A couple of months ago I installed Netscape 7.01 on my home computer
to replace an ageing Netscape 4.7 version. Netscape 7.01 failed only one
time that I can remember, but when it did, it activated a program which wanted to gather info and send to netscape for analysis. I declined.
I then installed Netscape 7.01 at work to replace Netscape 4.7. It work fine
for a while, and then caused a illegal operation error, as before it wanted to
send information to Netscape, I declined and did not have any more problems for a while. (About three weeks) Netscape 7.01 then crashed again and this time, the information was sent to Netscape...... Now Netscape 7.01 crashes with an illegal function call on a regular basis. The Netscape 7.01 at home has yet to fail again after the first failure. I use both computers for work and play on a very regular basis.

    Welcome to the Forum, jflrdl!

    Hi jflrdl,

The Full Circle Talkback Agent is notorious for causing Navigator to crash. It was the same in the Communicator series. The option to turn off the Quality Feedback Agent doesn't always stop the crashes.

I opt out of installing the Agent, so I don't have those files on my system. However, if you will do a "Find" for these files, and either rename them, or delete them, your QFA crashes will end:

    FullSoft/Talkback Agent files:
    fullsoft.dll . . Or . . rename to: fullsoft.bad
    talkback.exe
    talkback.hlp
    talkback.cnt

Let us know if you continue to have problems. It would also be helpful to post the exact error, in the event another crash should occur.

    Ramona :D
