I am trying to install Netscape 7.0 but everytime the installation begins I receive a message saying "An error has occured during installation: Netscape XPCOM: 1009." I click "OK" and the installation shuts down. This happens everytime and, therefore, I can't install N7.0. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this problem?

    Welcome to the Forum, JDK88!

    Hi JDK88,

Did you download the Full Netscape install? If you downloaded the 247 KB setup file, that may very well be your problem. For some reason the XPCOM is either corrupt, or the file didn't download.

Another problem, if you do have the complete browser, could stem from not having all programs closed during install. This includes your AV Program also.

You can get the full install here:
    ftp://ftp.netscape.com/pub/netscape7/english/7.0/windows/win32/sea/

There are two Streamline downloads here: http://sillydog.org/narchive/sd/70.html

Post back if you have more questions.

    Ramona :D

Thanks for you reply! I have tried downloading the Streamline downloads but the first one didn't work either. I had no problems downloading it but when it started to install it it said the files were corrupted and I needed to download again and verify the integrity of the files. I'm downloading them once again to see if this will help; I have a feeling it won't. I'm not sure what's going on with this. I'll keep trying and if you have any other recommendations please pass them along. Thanks again!!! -jdk
