Help! I keep getting an error with 7.0, saying - the NETSCP.EXE file is linked to missing export XPCOM.DLL:?GetSharedEmpty (and a lot more, none of which I recognize)
I click on OK, and then I get another message saying C:\ProgramFiles\Netscape\Netscape 6\Netscp.exe a device attached to the system is not functioning. This happened when I tried to convert from 6.2 - and now 6.2 doesn't work correctly either. I can't get my old mail from either system.

I can bypass the error I'm getting in 6.2, (telling me about an invalide character and to contact my system administrator) but 7.0 never works.

I apologize ahead of time for my lack of computer knowledge!!!

    writer1,

Welcome to the board! You may want to take a look at this page for help. If you are using Win XP, this is what is suggested to help: " Both MS and NS are looking into a problem with ZLIB.DLL, a common file that can cause the XPCOM-207 error. Look for it in the Windows XP or NT directory (folder). If found, rename to ZLIB_DLL.BAD. Try installing NS again."

Here is a page for transferring your mail files. You can transfer to a new folder and put them back into Netscape once you get it going.

I would suggest a clean install of Netscape 7. From what I understand, 6.x is pretty buggy. Make sure to follow all the directions.

    Clean install instructions

    Hope that helps!

    Welcome to the Forum, Writer1!

    Hi Writer1,

I see that MinnesotaMike has given you some very sage advice. I agree 100% with him on dumping 6.2

As to your XPCOM error, I believe you can solve this by installing XPCOM.xpi. It seems that this file sometimes becomes corrupt during install.

Let us know if you continue to have problems.
