I recently installed Netscape 6.2. My issue is this, it will not disconnect from the ISP when the program is closed. This was a standard feature in Internet Explorer. I have checked my internet connections and they are still the same as they were for IE 5.5 and in fact IE 5.5 still automatically disconnects from the ISP when the program is closed. Can anyone help?

    I am running a Win2K machine.

    Thx

I haven't used IE's auto disconnect feature for years and can't remember if I ever used it with Netscape Communicator but If I did it was a feature of ATT Worldnet's Connection Manager software, which I stopped using long ago (I now connect to my ISP, ATT Worldnet, directly through Dial-Up-Networking).

In IE5.5 (other IE versions may have similar settings) the auto disconnect option is controlled under Tools | Internet Options | Connections tab ...
You highlight your ISP'S connection under Dialup settings, click the Settings button, and in the Dialup settings section of the next screen, you click the Advanced button and check the option, "disconnect when a connection may no longer be needed." (possibly, the setting to disconnect if idle xx minutes might also be needed).

For Netscape Communicator dial-up users, the only information I could find was at:
    http://ufaq.org/commonly/disconnect.html and
http://help.netscape.com/kb/consumer/19980914-50.html "How Can I have my Connection Automatically Disconnect After I Close?" but that won't help you with Netscape 6.

I found nothing at http://ufaq.org/ns6_faq.html or on Ramona's pages,
    http://home.att.net/~cherokee67/index6.html and http://home.att.net/~mojol/index2.html
for Netscape 6 or 7 and automatic disconnect when the browser is closed, so the feature may not exist in Netscape 6/7.

If you are using a "connection manager" type software to connect to the internet then check with your Internet Service Provider.
