I am presently using Netscape 6.2 as my default browser. It has been working fine, but within the last day, it suddenly gives me this message when I try to reach a site "The connection has been refused for xxxxx, whatever that site might be.

I have not changed any settings that I am aware of, and when I try to access the same web site with IE6, it works. I had help from my broadband ISP, and they find no problem with the connection.

Can anyone tell me what might have happened, and how I might fix it? I like Netscape 6.2, but I will drop it if I can't get any solution to this problem.

    Thanks,
    Jerome Hill:confused:

    Welcome to the Forum!

    Hello Jerome,

One day it works and then the next day it doesn't? Bummer!

    A few things to check:

Clear the Cache and delete the History.dat/mab file
The History file and Cache folder are located in:
    C:Windows\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles

Do you have a Firewall and have you changed any settings?
Have you installed any banner ad stoppers, etc. in the last day or two?
Do you use proxy settings? Automatic Proxy does not work in 6.2
Have you enabled Java/JavaScript, and Cookies

It would also be helpful to know what OS you run.

Thank you for responding. I tried everything you suggested. Nothing worked. I finally solved the problem by completely uninstalling both Netscape 6.2.2 and ZoneAlarm. Then I restarted the computer and downloaded and installed the two programs. Everything now works as it did before and all is well.

    Thanks for the help.

    Jerry:)
