I added a new folder to my In Box and moved some messages to it. Later I noticed that the folder was not where I wanted it to be so I 'drug' it to the location I wanted. The contents were still there after the relocation. Then I noticed a folder with a cryptic name (don't know what it was cause I didn't write it down) which I proceeded to delete. It had the identical contents of the folder I had relocated. I moved the contents of the folder with the cryptic name to the Trash Can and thought I was done with the matter. Then I noticed that all the messages were gone from both folders, folders and all!

What happened? Is there a way to recover the messages?

    Thanks, Ed B

Welcome to the Forum, ED B!

    Hi Ed B,

If you haven't emptied or deleted the contents of theTrash Folder, since the mishap, then the files should still be accessible.

    With Netscape closed:

Open Windows Explorer and browse to your Profiles Folder:
    C:\Windows\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\profilename\xxxxxxxx.slt\Mail\mailaccount
    (Depending on your OS)
Open the Trash Folder (with NO MSF extension) with Notepad
    Are the deleted files there?

    Let us know...

    Ramona :D

    Hi Ramona,

Thanks for the reply and welcome. I will remember the information you have given in case it may be needed in the future. I wish I had known at the time the problem happened. I get so much spam that I dump the trash almost every day and they are gone now even if they were there earlier.

The loss is only a minor irritation since I can obtain the information elsewhere. But having information that helps me understand what happened or how to recover from such an event is very much appreciated.

    Thanks, Ed B
