I installed Netscape 4.79 on a Compaq CPU with
Win 98. I found the Notify.exe and set it up.

    2 Problems.

    (1) I have the Notify.exe on my desktop as an
icon to start it. I would like to move
it to my task bar. I try to drag it and
it does not stay. How do I get it to my
    taskbar?

    (2) The red flag waves showing I have mail but
the voice "you have mail" is missing. I
have this on my other computer. Is there
a Wave file I can copy from my other computer
to copy over to the Compaq computer? Where
would I find this file on my old computer
and how do I install it on the Compaq?

    Thanks, Jerry

    Hi Jerry,

    1. Put a shortcut in your Windows Startup for NSNotify.exe, and it will then be in your System Tray. See this Netscape KB Article:
    Launch NSNotify Automatically

If you plan to use NSNotify extensively, then I would put it in the Startup Menu.
    C:\WINDOWS\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp

In addition, you should be able to right click, and drag the icon to your Quick Tray, then select "Create Shortcut Here ".

    2. Your Mail Notification Sound should be configured with 4.79's Preferences, and in Windows:
    Netscape 4.79
    Edit|Preferences|Mail & Newsgroups
Enable: Play sounds when messages arrive
    Windows
    Start|Settings|Control Panel|Sounds
    Highlight: New Mail Notification Sounds
    Browse to C:\WINDOWS\Media
    Select a .wav file
    OR
If you prefer one of your own .wav files, select one of them, instead

A great site for .wav files:
    Har's Wave World

Let us know if you have more questions.
