Does anyone know where the bookmarks and the address books are kept for Netscape 6.2 in Win 2000 Server? I found that on Win 200 Pro they were in the Mozilla subdirectory hidden in the Profiles in Documents & Settings. I have read that Mozilla is sometimes in the Win directory. On Win 2K Server there is no Mozilla at all. I have many bookmarks that were imported from IE favourites but they are not in any of the Bookmarks.html files in any of the User profiles anywhere. This is very odd. This is a clean install not an upgrade. Is it possible that the bookmarks and address books are different if this is not an update of an existing Netscape 4.x install??

    Hi IdoSorcery, and welcome!

The Profile (including Address Book and Bookmarks) is found in:

    Windows NT
    Windows NT 4.0:
    C:\Winnt\Profiles\NT-User\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\Netscape- Profile\xxxxxxxx.slt\

    Windows 2000 & XP
    C:\Documents and Settings\W2K/XP-User\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles\Netscape- Profile\xxxxxxxx.slt\

The above is from the Netscape 6.2.1 Release Notes. You say that you don't have a Mozilla folder, and that is indeed puzzling. I can only give you information for home users, as I haven't been able to find anything specific to Windows 2000 server.

The Bookmark file is bookmarks.html. Did you have an installed copy of Netscape 4.7x on the PC when you did the Netscape 6.2.1 install? If so, then your profile from 4.7x should have been automatically transferred.
    If not, then:
launch Netscape from the command line, adding the "-installer" option , or re-install Netscape to see the profile manager dialog again.

    OR...
    With Netscape closed:

Copy your bookmark.htm file from the 4.7x folder. Paste it into your Netscape 6.2.1 xxxxxxxx.slt file.

Rename your Netscape 6.2.1 bookmarks.html file to:
bookmarks.old or Xbookmarks.html, etc. When you start Communicator, your bookmarks should be there.

    The Address Book is abook.mab.

    HTH,

    Ramona

Interesting. This is a clean install of 6.2.1 and there is no ABOOK.MAB but there is an assress book somewhere because I have many entries in it. Also the 3 BOOKMARKS.HTML fiels I ahve are all the default ones and none containing the hundreds of bookmarks showing in my Netscape window. I guess Netscape decided to trick anyone with server (this is a home machine but is need to runa particular set of programs) into buying suppor or something to find out where everything is. :(

    Hi IdoSorcery,

nteresting. This is a clean install of 6.2.1 and there is no ABOOK.MAB but there is an assress book somewhere because I have many entries in it.

I'm not sure why you would have three bookmarks.html files. What I have bolded, is confusing me. You say that this is a clean install of Netscape 6, without 4.7x, so where are these hundreds of bookmarks showing in your Netscape Window?

What I'm trying to nail down, is that you say this is a clean install, and independent of Netscape 4.x. However, you also say that you have a large Address Book and hundreds of Bookmarks. Are you talking about IE Favorites? If so, this is how to import your IE Favorites:

    Import IE Favorites
If you're migrating from Internet Explorer to Netscape 6, you'll want to add your IE Favorites to your Bookmark folder. Happily, Netscape 6 automatically imports your IE Favorites; there's no need to go through menus or wizards. Simply click Bookmarks and scroll down to Import IE Favorites. To redistribute your IE faves throughout your Bookmarks folder, click Manage Bookmarks and drag the saved sites to the appropriate folders. Note: If you're upgrading from an earlier version of Netscape, version 6 will automatically import your bookmarks from the earlier version.

    Export Your Favorites
If you use more than one computer (for example, one at work and another at home) and you'd like the same bookmarks on both, you can export your bookmarks list as an HTML file and copy it to your second computer. To do this, go to Bookmarks "¢ Manage Bookmarks. Pull down the File menu and select Export Bookmarks. Choose the destination file from any drive on your network, an online file storage site such as Xdrive, a floppy disk, or a CD-ROM.
    ------
To convert your IE/OE Address Book to Netscape 6, you will need a third-party application. Netscape recommends this site:
    http://www.interguru.com/mailconv.htm

I guess Netscape decided to trick anyone with server (this is a home machine but is need to run a particular set of programs) into buying support or something to find out where everything is.

LOL! I don't believe that Netscape sets out to trick its users. As for buying support, there is no need to do that either. This Forum, Netscape Newsgroups, uFAQ, etc. have plenty of information available.

    HTH,

    Ramona
