I use Netscape 7.0 and have an IMAP account, and me and a couple of co-workers have came in one morning to find our accounts wiped out, we dont lose the e-mails because there stored remotley, however our message rules are gone and need to be created all over again, must be a bug within Netscape. My question is does anyone know how to back up the message rules, so this file can be put back into a netscape folder to be recognized without the time consuming task of creating them all over again....Thanks in advace for the feedback....Mark:confused:

    Hi mcampbel

    Welcome to Windows BBS Forums

You can find your stored message filter rules in rules.dat If you do not know your file location, a simply way to find the EXACT path location, from email screen...
Edit| Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings| Your IMAP Mail Account| Server Settings... see bottom of page, "local directory" the field below that contains the path to follow. Be careful, the path is generally longer than the display.
With Netscape closed/Quick launch disabled. I've never had to replace the file. I would suggest renaming the empty "rules.dat" to "rules.old" and then
copy paste your backup file into the folder. Once everything is working correctly, delete the "rules.old ".
