netmeeting alternative

i want to speak to someone through the internet on webcam. I have tried netmeeting, but because i am on xp and he is on windows ME, i can see him, but he cannot see me. I was wondering whether there was an alternative program i could use to communicate.

Sounds to me as if you have a router, or are running a firewall.

Netmeeting does not like to play thru a router. Or you may also have a firewall that has to be configured to let netmeeting out.

Or both.

You may get exactly the same results on another chat client untill you get these 2 items cofigured.

I have never run netmeeting myself but have set it up for others. These had no router, only a firewall and worked as expected. I have read that if you have a router that netmeeting is usually reccomended to run thru the Router DMZ.

If you do this the DMZ should be enabled to use netmeeting then closed afterwards as it opens the router to the world.
