    Hi, pishbloom2.

You might be able to uninstall those hardware updates via one of two methods.

    Method 1:
    • Click Start > My Computer > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs
( "My Computer "/ "Control Panel" might have to be accessed via another method, depending on how you have your computer configured.)
    • Place a check mark in the "Show updates" box at the top of the "Add or Remove Programs" window.
    • Scroll down to see if you can find the hardware updates you installed.
(The "Installed On" dates may be displayed in the far-right column.)
    • Click on the hardware update item to highlight it.
    • Click the "Change/Remove" button to remove the update.
    Method 2:
    • Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore
    • Restore your computer to a date/time that immediately precedes your hardware update installation(s).

In any case, please post a follow-up with your results.

re i think i did something stupid

mailman, you are an absolute genius! thank you, thank you, thank you! im so shocked that the system restore worked that i dont know whether to laugh or cry. when i restored it back to yesterday i thought yeah right this isnt working so i shut off the computer turned it back on and low and behold it was right as rain. im going to ask another dumb question after you have restored it does it stay restored and fixed or will it go stupid again providing that i keep my hands to myself and dont touch those hardware updates ever again? i wish i would of remembered about system restore 8 hours ago it would of saved me alot of grief and worry about what i did to the computer. again thank you so much. it worked when all else failed. :)

System restore does as it says 'on the label' - restores your system to an earlier time and sticks :)

Beware of driver upgrades from Windows Update - for some reason they can cause dire problems as you discovered.

Another way of reverting the driver problem would have been to go into Device Manager > Router > right click > Properties > Driver and Rollback the driver to the previous version.

re i think i did something stupid/ router update disabled and firewalled

i think i should be made to write i will not do anymore stupid things to my computers ever again 100 times. :) my mom always said your hands have gotten you in more trouble! i was always taking things apart as a kid and of course couldnt put them back together. it used to drive her to distraction. i promise if im tempted to do anymore goofy stuff i will ask first if its safe and ok to do it so the computer doesnt blow up. :) thanks for all of the great help.
