Hi all..I am inquiring about my netbook that I am using..It's not in my system specs as yet as i have forgotten how to put it in there  I have had previous trouble with this machine but have had it sent away and had the harddrive replaced. Yesterday when i turned the the netbook on it made a weird beeping noise..sort of like an alarm..it then came on fine and all but the mouse pad would freeze momentarily. I have to constantly double tap F11 to un-freeze it. I am not sure if there are power saver settings that would make it do this or not..or if it is just malfunctioning again..I am not to sure on anything. Probably serves me right for getting a cheap netbook though as ever since I have bought it I have had nothing but problems with it!

Hi missa85, surely it's still under warranty? Beeping noises from comps usually mean that an internal fault has occurred.
I would definitely take it back to your supplier. Neil.

Optima (Australia) have been in liquidation since 2008 according to their website.

You only mention "yesterday, when I turned the netbook on... ", have you tried restarting a few times?

Do you have a User Guide/manual for it? Websearches for the model you quote don't bring up anything.

    Try this...
Disconnect any power source (both the battery and the charger), then press and hold down the power-on button for a minute or so.

If that doesn't work, there might be a loose connection somewhere. The battery might be extremely low in power or some other type problem that might be possibly be overcome relatively easily.

OK, now I see your last post.

Keep an eye out for any computer knowledgable friends or relatives that might be able to look at it if it happens again. When you are in Bundaberg (do you get Bundy cheap there? :D), go in and talk to some of the computer repairers. They might be able to assess it or if you're lucky, maybe reset it on the spot, at least get an idea of their willingness to do a good job for you and explain their methods.

It may have been knocked around and something loosened in transit if you have only just gotten it back.

    Matt

Wasn't Bunderberg inundated with water recently? Did everything stay dry? Neil.

    Thanx guys..

When It first happened, I did remove the battery at connect it back up and the problem didn't happen again. So I am thinking its going good at the moment , although I do want to take it in to my local computer shop and get Him to have a look at it!

As for living in Bundaberg and having the Bundy Rum cheap..Well considering this town makes it, You think we would have it cheaper. But unfortunately I have heard of other places that buy it cheaper than what we pay here. We can get 2 bottles for $60 so depending on what rum is your favorite here its between $30-$100.

And as for the floods, we were inundated pretty bad. It all started Boxing day as I'm sure you would know. The floods were pretty much all of our town and took around a full month to fully recede. Thankfully where I am living we were safe..But so many houses lost everything!

Thank you for answering my thread..I am sort of expecting a PM for answering your questions through here LOL

Yes everything did stay dry :) While the floods were here my netbook was sent away, getting the hard drive replaced.

Nice to hear you were dry. I've often seen the flood markers and thought what a huge amount of water it would take to completely inundate the cane fields. We now know from Television clips how easily continuous rain can do that.

If your Netbook does give further trouble - I would still take it back to the supplier. In NZ it would not carry the ability to serve the use for which it was intended. Cheers Neil.;)
