Just bought a Toshiba netbook with Windows 7 Starter installed. I read the FAQ on Win7, and it indicated that Home Premium is the minimum recommended version.

Is that just for full functioning PC's, or would it apply to a netbook, with its more limited functionality...?

    Win7 Pro OK on netbook

I just helped a guy set up his Toshiba netbook with W7 Starter and was surprised that some basic stuff seemed to be missing, even some display customizing seemed to be not there.

In any case, if you decide to upgrade, I can tell you that I've installed Win7 Professional on a netbook with 1GB of RAM, and the computer runs about as well as it did with XP Home.

To get display customisation in Starter the only real way is to use Stardock MyColors (apparently HP actually ship a branded version on their Win7 netboks)
