I have a windows 2000 domain controller that I am trying to time sync with an external source.

I have followed all the instructions on Microsoft's knowledgebase and have made sure there is an open port on the firewall.

The problem is that even though the net time /querysntp command results in the correct external timeserver (one which I know works on another domain), when I try net time /set, the server tries to sync with itself.

Can anyone tell me how to clear that setting and force it to look beyond its own domain?

    thanks

    C:\>net time /?
The syntax of this command is:

    NET TIME
    [\\computername | /DOMAIN[:domainname] | /RTSDOMAIN[:domainname]] [/SET]
    [\\computername] /QUERYSNTP
    [\\computername] /SETSNTP[:ntp server list]

Need to tell it where to go "before" the set command.
