    Hi,

Ive just downloaded a couple of mmo games from the internet. With both they try to install .net framework 1.1 and both fail with the same error saying

"application has generated an exception that could not be handled

    process id = 0x1450 (5200),
    thread id = 0x954 (2388).

(or with other numbers in their place)

i've tried downloading seperately from the game and installing on its own but get the same message.

ive even removed the .net framework 4 and 3.5 and tried installing after but with no luck.

I'm running vista home premium 32bit and have played both games before, but had to do a wipe and reinstallation about a year ago so games got removed.

please if anyone can help would be very grateful.

    Thanks very much.

This is a problem with Net Frame. Delete them all and then go to MS and get them one at a time with 1 being the first. I had a PC that had that problem and that is what I did. Yet 3 others had no problem at all. All running XP Pro SP3. Something don't like something is all I can figure on the 1 PC.

i tried downloading version 1a but it wont allow me as it says it has compatability issues with vista, so the next one was version 1.1, which is the one i need.

...and that's where the problem is. i already had version 3.5 and 4 and removed them before i tried to put 1.1 on but it still wouldn't let me go through without the error coming up!

Thanks for the quick reply by the way mr bill.

    thanks for all the help.

i tried using the removal tool from the link, but it wouldn't remove version 2 as it came with the os. couldn't find version 2 in the program files anyway!

However....the good news is, that ive been able to resolve the problem by doing a complete os reinstall and then downloading and installing version 1.1 before i put anything else on. that worked and i was also then able to redownload and install the newer versions that i had on before with no problems and no issues between them popping up!

still dont know what caused it, but at least its fixed and working now.

thanks for all the help and tips.
