.NET dlls still running after uninstall

I'm running XP Pro SP1 with all critical updates. I uninstalled the MS .NET Framework and the associated ASP account awhile ago. While researching another problem I noted that the .NET Framework folder hadn't been deleted. Upon further investigation, I found that 2 dlls, msvcr71 and shfusion, are running in association with explorer.exe. There are dupes of msvcr71 in Windows/system32 as well as several applications however Process Explorer shows that the one in the .NET folder is the one that's running. shfusion only exists in the .NET folder and I have no idea why it's running. I believe it's related to COM apps but I have no COM apps on my machine. I can't delete the .NET folder because the dlls noted are in use. I don't like having something running that I don't need. I really don't like something running when I can't understand why it's running in the first place. Can anyone enlighten me?

If you want to delete the .NET folder, download TheKillbox from here: http://tools.zerosrealm.com/killbox.zip

Unzip the files to a folder, then double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. In the "Paste Full Path of File to Delete" box, type the full path of the dll., then click on the Action menu and choose "Delete on Reboot ". On the next screen, click on the File menu and choose "Add File ". The filename and path should show up in the window. If that's successful, choose the Action menu and select "Process and Reboot ". Reboot when prompted. You should then be able to delete the folder.
