I use Nero 5.x.x.x at home to burn cd using Yamaha CD writer. Everything goes fine until I need to make a cd image. Can somebody tell me how to do it? I found it that it's not as easy as using Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 that I use in my workplace.

Anyway, which one better, Nero or Easy CD Creator?

    Thanks.

    From the Nero helpfile:

Nerio or Roxio? I prefer CloneCD.

If all you want to do is make an image, choose the Recorder menu at top, Choose Recorder, and choose the Nero Image Recorder. Then copy your CD.

Thanks. I have been able to make an image from a CD and even to burn it back to a blank CD. But I have some other questions... hopefully there is someone of you can give me information.

    1. I burn an image onto a CD that contained some date burned by Roxio EasyCD Creator 5. What a surprise, after a successful burning, I can see my previous data (that was burned using EasyCD Creator 5) in the windows explorer. I think it is related to a mode called "Joliet" which I don't really understand what it is. When I burned the image I was told that the burning will be in a mode Joliet 1 whereas my previous data was burned in a mode Joliet 2. Is there anyway to get my previously-burned data back?

    2. Is it a good idea to have two burning software in a PC, e.g., beside Nero 5 installed in my PC I will install Roxio EasyCD Creator?

    3. Is it possible to burn several images from several CDs onto the same CD blank? Will burning an image finalize CD? Or will burning an image override the previously-burned data like what I have experienced?

    Thanks for your help.

    cd burner software

(1)= juliet 1 & 2 are simple long file name conventions that list text as we would speak to romeo;) If you can "see" the data on the roxio burned cd then you can copy to a folder. If you have a DVD player in your box then you have a better chance of "seeing" the data. Also the old cd may still be "open" for multisession & you will only see the part on the cd that was finalelized on a session.
(2)=Installing Roxio & Nero software on same box is not a good idea, altho some have no probs, but small proggys like CloneCD & Hot burn, to just name two, work fine on my winxp box.
    (3) This is multisession burning & Nero does this very well
    :)
