can anyone tell me whether Norton or McAfee is better? Also, is it better to download from the site, or to buy the cd and install that way?.........I was running McAfee V shield, the one that came with my computer and for some reason, it was causing a problem with my ole32.dll file........so now I am not sure if I should go with the McAfee........thanks for any help......

I use the free programs AVG and F-prot. I have used Mcafee and Norton. If you insist on paying, I'd get Norton.

If you read through the MANY posts on the subject in the Security/Virus portion of the boards, you will get a pretty good idea about what to do.

Thanks for the info BMoore.......I went to the AVG site, downloaded the program and ran it........it's really dumb of me not to have an up to date anti virus program especially being connected via cable........I thought I was protected with the Mcafee one but it was causing a major problem for some reason...:D

global408 - that is why some of call it the "McAfee Virus ". Dang program can really mess up a PC.

I use Norton but mostly since I want lots of the other stuff bundled into their suites and am getting a good AV program thrown in.
