I've used a Palm OS phone for several years and I might have run across a reason to change to Android and I know nothing about Android.

I'm looking at this device and the site says it works with Google Android 2.2 and higher. I know nothing about Android. Are all Android phones Google Android?

What does it mean that the phone needs to be GPS enabled? What cost or monthly fees (if any) are involved with that?

At this point, I don't even know enough to ask another intelligent question so your thoughts are appreciated.

There are five Operating Systems for smartphones..... And yes, Google developed Android. Hardcore phone people have their favorite... Its almost like which is better - Windows or Mac...

This link will help see the differences:

Field Guide: What's the Best Smartphone Operating System?

GPS enabled means that you, the FBI, police department and your friends and family can see where you are at any time. Much of the GPS stuff can be turned off if needed.

Thanks for the link; but, Android 2.2 is the only OS I can consider. The product I linked does work with Apple; but, I don't care for Apple's use restriction enforcements so it is out.

So, "Android" and "Google Android" are equivalent terms. Right? (sort of like "Windows 7" and "Microsoft Windows 7 ")

Hi Alex, I made the move to Android (Huawei U8150 Smartphone) last October when local Telnet advised they were dropping CDMA transmission at the end of this month (July 2012).
As I understand it, Android works on Linux OS and the Touch screen and Multi-Touch are what most users are impressed with.
As Steve said GPS and all the other goodies are easily useable and Downloadable. I have Free Caddie on my U8150 which gives all the info on golf courses and distances.
There are in excess of 100,000 Apps available from Google Play Store. Cheers Neil.
