Friend has Win/ME. It has been setup so that when the mouse is positioned on a task (say a document in a list) the document automatically opens after a very short time. This is not only annoying, but does not allow my pal to have confidence in the machine, or be able to navigate. The systems seems to have a 'mind of it's own'.

How do I reset this annoying property?

That's definitely not "standard" Windows behavior! I’d check out his mouse properties (in Control Panel), but I haven’t heard of a software setting that will allow this.

    Next would be AV scanning….

Thanks Arie, I'll check the mouse properties, not sure what I'm looking for though. Can you please define "AV scanning ".
