Need to remove 1 hard of 3 disks BUT ......

My system has 1 X IDE hdu(drive C); and 2 SATA hdu's(Drives D and E).
Windows XP Pro is installed on SATA0 which is Drive D.
Drive C is not used except for temporary stuff.

I needed to remove Drive C (the IDE drive) for use on another PC.
After removing the IDE drive and rebooting the main system it said something about NTLDR not being found - even though XP is on drive D.

Rebooted with the Rescue Diskette but no hard drives were detected.

I do need the IDE drive for another system.

Please, what must I do to get my system to start up again without the IDE drive and only the 2 SATA drives intact.

Can I use a partition manager or something else?

Can't really reinstall XP and all files again....

I am not too technical so please be gentle with me.

I copied the files you suggested but the PC advised "hal.dll" in system32 was missing or corrupt.
Following on from your suggestion, I went back and also copied IO.SYS to Drive D.... woe and behold..... the blighter fired up !!!!!!!!! No problemo.
