Need to re-install w7; installed w7 over xp approximately 4 years ago, having background issues. Can I re-install as 'clean install' or is there some other to do it. System is Dell xps 210, 32 bit, with 'intel core 2 duo' and 4gb of ram. Thanks for any help! Seemingly no hardware issues.

Probably can. Was it a update disc or just a plain Win 7 disc?

Save what you want and let it rip. I would do a format than an install. That way everything will be clean and like new.
