I have a spare drive for my Dell CPiD300XT and installed it in my laptop and ran Fdisk to clean it up and try to partition it to install Win 2000 Pro on to play around with. I have Win 98SE on my other drive. I think I goofed as I deleted ALL the partitions on the drive and formatted. What I wanted was a C: and a D: drive. When I try to boot from my Win 2000 Pro CD I get and error, invalid system disk. If I try to boot from the floppy and and point to my CD drive I get an error can not install from DOS. I can use the disk for storage by hooking to an external PCMCIA cable. What do I need to do to be able to install a OS on it?

Invalid system disk is ominous. Have you accidentally deleted partitions on the win98 hdd (hard disk)? If so, you'll have to reinstall it. Be careful which hdd you're fdisking!

Try running fdisk again on the extra hdd; delete the present partition and create the two new partitions, which will likely become d: and e:, since c: should still be win98 . Close fdisk and reboot before formatting them.

You need to adjust the boot order in the BIOS to boot the CD.
