My OS is Windows XP Home, Sp.3

I’ve created a slide show which contains, among other things, over 300 jpg’s. Unfortunately, the camera used to take the pictures was set to a resolution far in excess of what is necessary. Only after much sorting and adding features to the show did I realize the total file size was far too large. Rather than resizing the pictures (with resultant different file names) and redoing the entire show, I would like to resize the pictures without changing the file names, making the change invisible to the slide show software.

The only way I can think of to accomplish this within Windows XP is to email the pictures to myself at a reduced resolution. Is there way I can do this in bulk? Or maybe third party software would be better?

    Thank You

Someone else may know a way to do the size reduction in bulk but there is a simple way to preserve the original pictures. Just make a subfolder in the folder where the pictures are now, then copy them all to the subfolder.

Then you can then resize the pictures in the slide show. Let them overwrite those files when you save the resized pictures. It preserves the names and you still have the unedited pictures safe in another folder.

There are a number of "resizer" software products available both free and paid that will allow you to do a bulk resize of jpg pictures and keep the same file names etc. Google "resizer" and take your pick. I would suggest you test reizing some of your picture files before you attempt the whole thing. Just so you know what is going to happen and how to do it. Make a backup of your original files just in case.

I once used a CabCompressor. I think it compresses better than other compressor.

    Thanks

I finally found Image Resizer Powertoy and it seems to do what I want. It's a right click addition to Explorer. The "Advanced" tab will give the same file name as the original.

    So far, so good.
