win. 2000pro installed as ntfs. I am going to install new mb. I do not want to reformat , I have all the service packs installed and do not have any problems now. How do I get away from having to reformat, or just tell me how to avoid reformatting.

    Thank you!

Back up your files before change motherboards. Sometimes, one can swap motherboards and reconnect hardware and have no issues at all, and sometimes one must reformat and install again. This is because the master boot record on the hard drive remains the same while the bios changes. The new mb will have a different bios than the old one. Backup your files, try it and be prepared to fdisk, format and reload.
