Could you provide just a bit more detail please? What trojan are you trying to kill? What effect is it having on your computer? Exactly, what tools have you tried?

The virus is idenitified as trojan zlob.dup It arrived via a plugin download. It highjacked the explorer browser, added a security tool bar and wanted me to download a antivirus software from Lavitia, Russia. others have called it the security toolbar 7.1 virus.
I have used trend micro, stopsign, pc shield and nod32. I downloaded SpyNoMore, scanned with it but did not purchase it. Spy NoMore indicates I have around 90 files infected but none of the other anti-virus programs agree with that conclusion. I suspect it is giving me false positives in order to try to get me to purchase the program.
I have been able to quarrantine/delete 11 infected files with trend micro, 7 files wih Nod32 and 6 registery problems with PC Shield.
Currently my computer is moving very slow, especially if I go to start> control panel or my computer. :(

Thanks for the added information. :) Now, lets get you cleaned up!

First, uninstall SpyNoMore and delete it's folder in Program Files.

Then, download SmitfraudFix by S!Ri, saving it to the desktop.

    • Restart the computer in Safe Mode by tapping the F8 key upon startup and selecting Safe Mode from the Advanced Startup Menu. Logon to your account.
    • Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe to start the tool and press 2, then hit Enter.
    • You will be prompted 'Do you want to clean the registry?' answer Y (yes) and hit Enter.
    • If prompted to replace the infected wininet.dll file (if found), answer Y (yes) and hit Enter to restore a clean file.
    • Reboot to normal mode when the tool completes.

Post the contents of C:\rapport.txt and a fresh HijackThis log.

Per your instruction, I could not go to safe-mode to run the programs. Dell support could not get me to safe-mode either. I have wiped out the hard drive and started over. Please consider this incident resolved. :(

Sorry to hear you wiped the drive ... I know it's a lot of work getting things back to where you want them. Had you posted back about the safe mode problem, I could have given you a fix. :( It's a common problem with some infections these days, though hard to know when we will run into it.

    Resolved it is.
