Need to clean out hard drive...

Need to clean my hard drive out so i can install xp. The only thing ive seen done is fdisk...but i heard you can format(?) it. Then i wouldnt need to go through partiitioning and all that stuff...any help? thanks

Since you list your level as beginner, I'm will recommend that you read this and get a good idea of what you need to know and do.

Post back when you digest that to get any specific help in areas you still have doubts about.

BTW, Did you know that the XP install disk is bootable and will do the work of formatting for you without you having to use FDISK to partition it and run format yourself?

Is your computer XP ready? Got lots of RAM? Got a 1Gig processor or better? Checked for any hardware incompatabilities?
