    Hi all,

sorry if I am posting in wrong place but here goes, maybe someone can add some insight to my problem. I just recently purchased my first lap top and after long hours of re configuration and set up I am pleased to say I love the whole portable idea. The one thing I am lacking is a internet connection while I am on the road . I travel alot and would like to plug into a phone jack and dial out. Does anyone know of a service that would allow me to do that from just about anywhere? I have checked into pre paid internet services and what I found, I was not satisfied with as far as cost and reliability. Allthough I did find NetScape.com and they do offer a dial up for $9.95 a month but they do not specify wether or not I would have accses to a certain number to dial out nation wide. I do not want to have to keep changing the dial up number depending on where I might be in the country. Hope some one might be able to help.

    Best Regards,
    ~FIREDANCER~

AOL and any national ISP like AT&T etc have different phones for each and every city. You go to a new city, you change phone numbers. You just have to change your dialup...

I have heard of ISP's with 800#'s for dial up. I thought AOL had some but refuse to RECOMMEND using AOL. :D Check Walmart.

Most of those that offer the 800s, charge like .10 a minute. You might find someone here.

    Hello,

Thanks for the replies, yes I have found that you can get something through AOL but I just havent convinced myself to put my CC# on the internet yet in all these years.

I did find something though I might try in a nearby travel plaza it's a internet accses card like a calling card you purchase it for however many minutes you want and it comes with a 800 accses # you can use anywhere and can recharge the minutes if you like.

It is offerd through Verizon Wireless and I seem to think this would be easier and safer then going with a monthly charge with the likes of AOL and NetScape. Again thank you for your replies and ideas :p

    Very Best Regards,

You need to use an isp that has national services, services in most all areas using local phone calls:

    1. earthlink
    2. at&t
    3. msn
    4.aol

Also, set up your network because most all major hotels now have either wireless access points or broadband via a network cable in the hotel room.
