    I need some help with a HJT log for my PC. One of my kids used my PC this afternoon and when I returned to it I had Zonealarm warnings about ntldr.exe and system.exe trying to connect to IP addresses on the net. I denied the requests and then rebooted to safe mode and deleted the two files that were in the root directory. I've scanned with Spybot, Adaware, AVG anti-spyware, and AVG, but I'm posting a HJT log to see if there's anything I've missed. Hopefully there's nothing wrong, but I don't want to take a chance;

    Gee, you're becoming a regular here. Pretty soon you'll be able to decipher logs based on your own cleanings. :p

    The log looks fine. Were the IPs suspicious?

    Run the scans at Panda and KAV to be sure you got everything.

    And seriously, if I recall, I think this is the second time the kids have buggered something up. I would give some consideration to setting them up as limited users.

    This will eliminate alot of headaches, tho not all.

    I know I've been here a lot lately, and the scary part is I'm getting so I can look at the HJT logs and spot some bad guys just from the experience.

    Thanks for checking the log, I'll do the online scans to make sure. I don't usually let the kids use my pc, they have their own and if they mess it up well I just take my time getting to it. I happened to have mine on and they wanted to look something up, heaven knows what, but when I returned to it the zonealarm warnings were all over the place. Thank goodness I have it running. The IP addresses looked very suspicious and when I saw the program names trying to do the connect I knew it wasn't legit. I told it to deny all the requests and shutdown and booted to safe mode and deleted the files immediately. I rebooted offline and ran the scans, then thought I should post the log just to be safe.

    Thanks again for the help.

    Very good, I'll leave this thread open just in case the scans find something.

    Looks like I'm ok, the online scans didn't find anything more malicious than tracking cookies. That's a relief. Thanks again for the help.
