Sorry to poke in this thread, but I have an older Visioneer 6000a scanner, and according the website, the drivers aren't WinXP certified or whatever. Does anyone know if they would still work regardless on XP Pro? The scanner cxn is parallel. Thanks!

    Hi PDubs
Closest info I could find was this. Which essentially says to make a restore point before trying it.

At the link Zephyr pointed me to, there are two files that it says I need.

One says it is for anyone that has upgraded from 98 to XP ( I could not get that one )

The other is the software. I could not get that to work either cause it said it could not find the other one.

But I am very leary of upgrading the scanner anyway as I might not have it then in 98SE. So I think I will leave it set for SE for now.

Along with the Printer. The other two machines share the Printer and won't use the XP drivers.

    Scanner Drivers

After much trial over installing my scanner and a few others for my clients who upgraded, I found that the Windows XP site does mention what scanners are supported.
You can also go to the company site of your scanner and then their support and downloads to find the drivers. Slowly but surely, there are more drivers available for the scanners. It is most frustrating!!!

Did not need drivers after all. Already had them on the CD that came with unit. ( after I put my extra eyes on so I could see them listed )

Drivers & software installed fine but could not find scanner after restart.

    I made a mistake. ( I believe ). I did not disconnect the scanner ( USB ) BEFORE I installed XP.

After following 5 pages of instructions from HP to remove umteen vairous reg keys etc., restarting machine and making a RESTORE POINT, I reinstalled the software, restarted Windows, plugged in the scanner and BINGO !!!

Now I have it in both 98 and XP.

Now on to the next item.
