    ossa - if you ever worked with Terminal Server services on 2K you will pretty well be familiar with what it will do.

    An excellent how-to article on getting started is Here.

    You need to be aware that by default it is turned off. When you turn it on, by default only the Administrator has access. This means you will either need an admin account on the remote machine or access to it's administrator account.

    Thanks Newt;
    I'll give it a good read. I'm running w2k and xp pro and i'm the only person and yes....i'm the admin.

    What i had in mind, since we're both on the same cable service and know all the ip info., i was thinking it might be easy to get us connected and if a problem comes up...i could maybe fix something thru the connection.

    regards

    OSSA,
    Remember you have a Linksys. If you want to allow anything to come in through MSN messenger you will have to tell the router to redirect port 3389 to your PC's internal IP address.
    It's the fowarding tab in the Linksys setup page.
    If your only taking controll of her machine you should be ok, but if you want to get to your machine from the outside you have to set it up.

    Should work fine for you.

    Fewer features than NetOp or SMS or even PCAnywhere but it is built in and will allow most things you want to do.

    The only real potential problem is that a person on the remote machine has to agree to let you in to work each time you want to establish a session. Easy enough since all they have to do is give a "yes" response to your "may I" question.

    I haven't used the XP version but if it is as much like the regular terminal server client as I understand it is, there may be a couple of surprises. I know that with the TermServ thing, the user at the remote PC does not see you on and working like they would with a traditional remote control program.

    Remote Desktop does blank out the screen but Remote Assistance does not.
    OSSA I replied to your e mail with a screen shot.
