I have a wireless broadband router, Linksys 2.4GHz, and up to this point I used it to hard wire my kids video game and my PC. I now have a laptop with wireless capability, Compaq Presario 2500, and would like to connect this laptop through wireless connection to internet. I have software that came with the router and I get as far as connecting the router to the LT, "excellent signalâ€, but I can’t get internet connection. When after establishing connection between the two devises I move forward I get stuck because the software can not detect internet connection. What am I doing wrong or what else should I do??

If the Compaq came with the in-built wireless adaptor you shouldn't have to install any additional software.

I don't know your equipment but have you tried right-clicking the wireless icon in the system tray (bottom right of screen) and 'opening' it. there should be a Tab showing all the wireless connections in your immediate location. If there is, click connect and supply any security code, e.g. for WEP.
