Recently I can not use the serach companion, I type in my question , click search and it constantly gives me the following message

    Unable to connect
Web site is currently unavailable or the connection to the internet has been lost. Make sure you are connected to the internet and try again.

I have a cable connection so I am constantly connected

Any idea of what is going wrong

    Your help would be appreciated

Is this the actual name of the search utility?

    Does it have a website?

    Can you go there directly?

Finally unless you are referring to the standard search engines then this sounds like ad/spyware?

    Let us know.

Could be but they need to tell us if they have XP and if that is it.

Because that "Win now" or what ever "what is the name of that website?" has an Ad/spyware program that loads now. Called something like search companion.

Thanks Daizy and Mike for your help.

I found out that my problem was with XP Search Companion, went to the web page and after reading on it I noticed that the index server was not enabled.

Simple solution, but without your help I could not have done it.

    Thanks again
