    Hey guys, I have a dual boot Win 7 32 bit and Win 7 64 bit system. Both systems are on the same physical hard drive. My 32 bit system is trashed and can't be fixed with restores, disk images, and such. I'm going to have to start over from the ground up and reinstall Win & 32. My question is how do I do that without messing up my 64 bit partition? Can it be done, and if so how? Thanks Much for any help, Brian:confused:

    Google-> BCDedit

    You might not even need to use bcdedit to unlink the two OS's... You could just pop in the Win7 dvd and make certain you chose the correct partition when you reinstall.

    Just curious. Why do you need Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit?

    Well I always used 32 bit versions of Windows. So I had Win 7 32 bit installed first. But I also like to play fps games on pc. One of the new ones, Wolfenstien required a 64 bit system to be played. So I researched how to do it and bought Win 7 64 bit and then set up the dual boot. I would just get rid of the 32 bit os and go with the 64 which allows me to use my full 16Gigs of ram but some of my older programs and some older peripherals won't run on 64. Brian :D

    Steve what is bcdedit and how would I use it should I need to. Also if I just pop in my Win 7 32 bit are you sure it will give me the option of picking a partition before the install starts? I'm far from a pc expert, all self taught just by researching and then trying things, so any help is greatly appreciated! Brian

    So does anyone know the answer to my second question? "Also if I just pop in my Win 7 32 bit are you sure it will give me the option of picking a partition before the install starts?" Worried that if I load in my Win 7 32 bit disk it may start install before giving me a chance to look at it and figure out how to make it install without destroying my 64 bit partition. Brian

    If you have a regular win7 disc you choose Custom Install option in the beginning. If you have a restore disc then it probably won't ask.

    I've got the original Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit (builders license) install disk. Brian
