Resolved Need help turning off Microsoft Word

I messed up. Rather than turning my Word document into a pdf document, I accidentally pressed the button to fax the document. Now, I just get the rotating circle and am unable to stop it or close the Word documents that were open. I can open a new Word document as administrator, and I can open recently closed Word documents, but I can't do anything with the 3 documents that were open when I made this mistake. What can I do?

 

I used Task Manager to shut it down. It actually saved most of my document, so all is well.
