I am on my last raw nerve trying to remove this trojan horse!!! If I know what it is and where it is, why can't I go there and zap it?
It is in C:\info6.cab. When I click on it there it shows information.exe. AVG and ad-aware both detect it but cannot quarantine nor remove it. I ran CWShredder and it shows everything clean. My Hijack this log is clean.

I cannot reformat this computer since my brother does not have any of his disks that came with it. I know that there MUST be some way to remove this dialer: Dialer.8.H, the trojan horse living in my cabs as info6 with the execution name of information.exe. Just because my log file is clean does not mean that it is not there. Thanks for any help you may offer me!

The behavior you are seeing is not uncommon. Most AV & anti-spyware apps have trouble with files that are in a .cab wrapper and especially the normal compressed files that make up a .cab file.

Dude has given you a couple of good suggestions. If neither will work, post back because there are other approaches but none quite that easy. One idea is to just blow away the entire .cab file or that entire folder if you know what it is and know you can operate OK without it.

:D :D :D Yey!!!It's gone! Here's what I did: I booted up in safemode, deleted the folder called cabs, emptied my recycle bin then created a new folder and named it cabs. When I rebooted and ran AVG, it is no longer there!

    Thanks for your help.................
