Need help deleting messages that "have not been received from the server"

I'm in outlook 2003, xp. I use ypops to retrieve my email into outlook. I have over 100 spam in my inbox and when i click over them i get the following message:

The item cannot be displayed in the reading panel, the item has not been received from the server

I had something similar before and I just deleted the messages from the web base email (yahoo).

Now I feel stuck with all this spam in my inbox - please can someone help I need to get rid of these messages. Some messages are duplicated 4 to 5 times - I think this happens every time I try to receive email.

When I go to Yahoo the messages they are no longer there. Actually I found out how to deal with it by accident. Now I feel foolish because I spent two days on this. I decided to delete all my email account and re-enter them one by one. Apparently the spam was being sent to one certain yahoo email. When I clicked on it I got a message that deleting these emails belong to an email that is no longer accessible. Are you sure you want to delete? YES!

So the trick was to remove all the email accounts and then delete the offending emails. I'm not sure if you at least need to have one email setting restored.

 

I tried this but it would not work. I think it was caught in some kind of limbo because all the messages had been already deleted from the web base yahoo account.
