I only use Bitdefender Total Security 2018 for my antivirus protection. Just yesterday, I discovered I had Avast Antivirus software running on my system as well. I deleted it, or so I thought, with Revo Uninstaller, but it's still in my system, and now I don't know how to get rid of because I can't find it anywhere.

    Update:

Since posting this I have found the Avast folders in the registry. They are in HKEY_CURRENT_USER. Can I just delete them from there?

    Will someone kindly advise?

    Thank you,

    bellisimo

I use ADW cleaner for cleaning up left behind keys.
Avast would have been in Control Panel > Programs and Features. But there is a Avast cleanup program available from Avast.
Go to their web site and look for it.

Did you just happen to update CCleaner? Seen on a couple of other Forums where it was part of the download with the box checked to take it.

    Thank you,

I'll check it out. How about my question as to whether I can just delete the Avast files form my registry. It makes sense to me that it should work, and be safe.
    What do you think?

    Thanks again:)

    Thanks MrBill,

Yes, I'm sure that's what happened. I update CCleaner all the time and have never noticed that Avast Freeware download. I'll pay more attention in the future.

Do you think it's safe for me to just delete the Avast files from my registry?

If you are happy with that - remember to make a backup in case something goes wrong!
I would use the Avast cleanup tool - to be sure - and safe.
