    Hello,

Last week my main work PC (Windows 7 64) became corrupt to the point I needed to reinstall Windows. I am having problems getting my email to work again on this PC. I run SBS 2003 in the office, and I use Outlook 2007. My email is set up with an Exchange Account as well as 8 different POP3 accounts. The current emails are stored in an OST file while archived emails are stored in multiple PST files - all located on the server.

I have a second PC that runs WinXP that also runs Outlook 2007. I sometimes use this PC to access email and it is working as a backup for all my accounts. I followed the advice in the following article and copied the registry key that has all the Outlook account info:

    http://www.jephens.com/2008/10/14/importing-and-exporting-mail-and-user-accounts-in-outlook-2007/

This phase seemed to work. When I opened Mail in the Control Panel on the W7 PC I see all of my accounts with all the right settings. The only thing missing was the passwords which I added. When I went to open Outlook on the W7 PC, I received the following error message:

Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook Window. The set of folders cannot be opened. The file O:\....Current Outlook.ost cannot be accessed. You must connect to Microsoft Exchange at least once before you can use the offline folder.

I did some digging around and found a comment in another forum for this situation. The poster said: "From control panel ensure that Cached Mode is disabled, go in to the advanced tab under the Exchange server settings and ensure offline folders is disabled. Launch the mailbox and then go back in to control panel recreate the offline folder manually, and ensure that offline folder files is enabled, which will also re-enable cached mode. "

I did that - and now all I get is an error that says Exchange is not available!

The W7 PC used to be called Chip019 before the crash. While setting it up I named it ChipPC2. Could the different names be causing a problem?

Thanks for your help! I am not very experienced with Exchange Administration.

    Chip
