I like AM Deadlink as well! It's great if you're an Opera user!!!

Before choosing to delete, I do double-check the links it says aren't working.... sometimes it's wrong!

    Deadlink

    Hello

Does anybody know an easy way to recover deleted bookmarks which Deadlink has placed into its backup file or even from the log?

I ran Deadlink and carefully looked at all the links reported as `dead' [404] and a few others, had them moved to the top; unmarked some to avoid deletion and then let fly.

I now discover that some of my bookmark folders which contained perfectly good and current links, are EMPTY. I even recall seeing many of these classified as `good' by Deadlink and I swear they were not highlighted.

I've been opening two browsers, bringing lost links up one at a time and doing a copy, paste and save but it's a heck of a tedious way to transfer and restore those that were incorrectly removed.

    Thanks .

    Hi Welt,

When you delete Bookmarks from Netscape, AM-DeadLink generates BAK files of your Bookmark file called:

    bookmark.htm_deadlink_bak

There's also a log file which contains all the Bookmarks deleted: Click on
"File" and you can find the menu entry "Show logfile ". All deleted bookmarks are written to this log file..

    Ramona :D

P.S. I deleted your post on the Netscape Forum, as it was double posting, and no longer a Netscape issue.

    Thanks Ramona

I guess I mentioned the `log' and the `BU' files [BAK] in the other post. That's where I've been copying from but it's slow going.

Now I know why I could not find my other post. I was hunting for it to make a copy for my hard disk. Rats.

Oh well, all I'm looking for is an easy way to `batch copy' marks back to the Netscape file.

I'll find it somewhere or somehow.

    Hi Welt,

There are some Windows Guru's around who might be able to help you with a batch file. That is certainly beyond my expertise. I'm sorry that you had such a bad experience.

Did you try restoring the backup that DeadLink makes?

    Hi Ramona

No I've not tried but did consider it. Might still do first backing up the current active file.

Not to worry. I'll get there. ..find a way.

    Thanks

    Ron
