need assistance to delete ceres & Buddy exe

    I split your log off of the other thread. It can get too confusing working on two or three people's logs on the same thread. markp62

    hi,
    It looks like this is the place I should post my help query.

    I have same problem as Steve and still cannot get rid of the evil root of ceres.dll.

    Could anyone please give me an advice how to get rid of this?

    Hello, welcome to the boards!
    I did not see any evidence of the ceres.dll file.

    Disable System Restore, and reboot. This is important to do this as deleted files will reappear otherwise.

    Remove these items in HJT with all internet browsers, and Windows Explorer windows closed.

    R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

    Reboot into Safe Mode and set Windows Explorer Folder Options to Show All Files.
    Delete all files in the folder C:\Windows\Prefetch.

    Delete this file.

    Surf for a bit, and please post a new log. I did not see any evidence of the ceres.dll file.

    Your log looks clean to me. You can renable SR, I would want the Restore Points available to me, too.
