Specifically I'm looking for 80mm fans.
The most quiet one that I have found is 20dB.

Anyone know of where to look or just which ones are the most quiet with decent output?

    Hi RAMDISK!

There appears to be some good stuff here.

I see they have a 12db rated 80mm unit. That's really quiet! A 12 dog biscuit level is barely perceptable. :) You can hear your mind change when it's that quiet.

It's also good to remember that a 6dB increase is about double the physical sound pressure and a reduction in 6dB will approximately half the sound pressure. Most people say a 8-10 dBA increase will double the perceived sound. (dBA is a weighted scale that incorporates human perception).

    Cheers. :)

When I really want to quiet a set of fans, I install extra fans and then rewire all of them for 5 volts. At five volts, they are almost totally silent and with extra fans in the case, they do dhe job just fine.

There are three colors of wires in a set, red, yellow and black. Black is ground. The others, red and yellow, are positives for 5 and 12 volts. I forgot which is 5 volts; but, you can easily find out with a volt meter.
