Open Control Panel, right-click on Device Manager, click on Create shortcut. A Device Manager icon then appears on your laptop.

Does that do what you want?

Thank you both for the prompt reply.

    Bobbo,

My Control Panel for Win7 doesn't show Device Manager and there is no right clicking/Create shortcut on the CP that I know.

    Evan,

    The zip file worked great.

    Have a great week guys.

Rob, if you're still around. You don't have your system specs posted, but I'm curious why your Control Panel display doesn't show Device Manager in the listing. My Win7 system is a pretty standard one -- Home Premium with SP1. In my Control Panel, Device Manager is in the correct alphabetical order, and a right-click on it does offer a Create shortcut option. I checked before I originally submitted my post and again after you replied, and both times I was able to get a Device Manager icon to appear on my desktop. Is your Win7 version that different from mine? Anyone else care to chip on?

Could the view be set to category and not large or small icons view. I find it easier to locate what I'm looking for using small icons view.

    lj50 and all,

    My bad!

My Win7-x64 Pro was set on category and I never noticed the "View by." at the top right.

I've only had my Win7 a short while and obviously still learning things.
    I'll enter my PC specs.

Thanks for your persistence everyone, that really helps.
