Nec Nd-3520a Dvd-rw

Hi,

I have just built myself a new system with os XP service pack 2.
I have a Nec ND-3520a DVD - RW installed, it is set to region 2 at the moment but I can only change this setting four more times till it locks up for good. Does any body know how to make this unit region free or how to unlock the settings.

Search for any firmware updates for your drive. Region restrictions are no longer being imposed (on new drives), so your drive may have a firmware update that overcomes them.

A lot of drives are built by one manufacturer (the OEM) and sold under different brands. See if your drive is "rebranded ". You may be able to use the firmware of the OEM's model. The OEM may feel it is important to provide firmware updates to upkeep their customer sevice support. The "rebrands" may just hope you will buy a newer version of their outdated product.
