Last week I installed Norton Antivirus 2007 on my desktop running WIN XP Home SP2. When I start my computer with a cold boot, it takes about 4 minutes before the NAV icon appears in the tray and the hard drive is churning all that time. Previously I had NAV 2005 and did not have this problem. Anyone know what all the churning is about?
It sounds like it is doing some kind of scan?

    Hello ackerberg,

It might well be scanning on bootup. Have you looked in NAV's options? The last NAV version I used was 2005 and can't tell you where to look exactly.

Another possibility is a conflict with another startup. If NAV is not scanning, then try disabling other startups and see if that's the problem.

After looking at all the options, I see that the program scans all active programs and start-up programs. I haven't turned it off yet but that is probably the culprit.
